Iggy looks really angry! Was he trying to kick you?

Ian Tilton
Yes he was. The stage was really low, with the edge at about waist height. I was the only photographer there. I leant in over the lip of the stage and Iggy was really getting into the gig and took a swing at me with his boot. He really came running at it! He did it a couple of times, and one of those times I got the shot. After I clicked the shutter I wondered "did I get the shot I just think I did?". And I had. I got well out of the way after that, I didn't want to get beaten up by one of my heroes!

Did you meet him?

Ian T.
I stood in the doorway of the support band's dressing room the following night on the next date of the tour. That day I printed up the pictures from the previous night, including the one of Iggy kicking out, a had the prints in an envelope. I asked the support band:- "Where's 'Mr. Pop' then? What do you call him? Iggy? Pop? Mr.Pop??!!" His dressing room was next door to theirs and the door was open, so he probably heard me! Any way, I went in, gave him the photos, said who I was, and asked him if he remembered me from the night before. He said "yeah...".

D.M.
Did he like the pictures?

Ian T.
He didn't look at them while I was there. He was such a hero of mine, and I was a bit. I didn't want to stay around to get his reaction.

Sum him up then...

Ian T.
Part of Rock History, eccentrically cool, ugly, raw power. Oh, and I hope I'm as fit as him when I'm 50.
